Within a context where student-athletes often face conflicts between training demands and educational expectations, the research aims to understand how they construct well-being and balance through the lens of positive psychology. Using a qualitative approach with Reflexive Thematic Analysis (RTA), eight participants from diverse sport disciplines were interviewed in depth. The PERMA (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishment) served as a sensitizing concept to guide analysis while remaining open to emergent themes. Findings reveal that flourishing develops through the adaptive integration of positive emotions, deep engagement, supportive social relationships, purposeful dual-role identity, and balanced achievements. Participants experienced a process of self-regulation, resilience, and meaning-making as they coped with physical fatigue, academic stress, and time management challenges. These processes reflected both hedonic and eudaimonic dimensions of well-being. The study underscores that flourishing is not a static state but a reflective and ecological process shaped by social support, institutional context, and personal strengths. The findings highlight the need for strength-based counseling programs and flexible institutional policies to sustain student-athletes’ holistic well-being and long-term academic–athletic harmony.
2026-03-06T02:51:55+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##http://sportasaintika.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/sporta/article/view/484Pengaruh Kecepatan, Kelentukan, dan Kelincahan Terhadap Kemampuan Dribbling Pemain Futsal2026-03-07T10:49:16+00:00Rahmat Hidayatrahmathidayat@gmail.comRidho Bahtraridhobahtra@ymail.comAlnedral Alnedralalnedral@fik.unp.ac.idAldo Naza Putraaldonazaputra@fik.unp.ac.id
Dribbling ability is one of the techniques that futsal players must have. In sports contexts, caffeine is commonly used at doses of around 3–6 mg/kg body weight to enhance athletic performance. However, most research on the ergogenic effects of caffeine has primarily focused on male or mixed populations, despite evidence that physiological and hormonal differences may influence female athletes’ responses to caffeine supplementation. This study aimed to systematically review current scientific evidence regarding the effects of caffeine supplementation on the physical and psychophysiological performance of elite female athletes. This study employed a systematic review design in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Literature searches were conducted in the PubMed and Scopus databases for publications from 2016 to 2025. Inclusion criteria were determined using the PICOS framework, focusing on controlled experimental studies involving elite female athletes. Of the 2,254 articles identified, nine studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed qualitatively. Most studies used randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover designs and reported that caffeine supplementation at doses of 2.3–6 mg/kg body weight improved strength, speed, cognitive response, and exercise enjoyment. However, the results were not always consistent, particularly among athletes with high habitual caffeine intake or when lower doses were administered. In conclusion, caffeine may enhance the performance of elite female athletes. Nevertheless, the existing literature presents several limitations, including the limited number of studies, small sample sizes, and variability in study design, caffeine dosage, and control of hormonal factors such as the menstrual cycle. This study aims to develop a footwork instrument based on the Internet of Things (IoT) using the Ryu Seung Mon approach to improve the accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency of training. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg & Gall development model, which was simplified into several stages: identifying potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, revision, and limited trials. The small-group trial involved 25 participants, while the large-group trial involved 40 participants. The results indicate that the IoT-based footwork instrument is capable of recording athletes’ movements in real time, providing immediate feedback, and analyzing movement speed and accuracy based on the Ryu Seung Mon footwork pattern. Validation results showed that the first material expert rated the product at 86.33%, the second material expert at 88.75%, the first media expert at 91.66%, the second media expert at 90.25%, and the technology expert also indicated that the product is feasible for use in table tennis training. The significance of these findings demonstrates that the integration of IoT in sports training can quantitatively and objectively enhance the quality of coaching. In conclusion, this instrument is effective as a footwork measurement tool and represents a technological innovation in improving table tennis athletes’ performance. The primary limitation of this study lies in the potential low external validity and long-term reliability of the instrument due to its dependence on the stability of IoT devices.
2026-03-30T04:47:35+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##http://sportasaintika.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/sporta/article/view/525Analisis Pola Gerak Biomekanika: Studi kasus pada atlet lari gawang dalam program latihan Running ABC2026-03-30T05:17:57+00:00Alimuddin Alimuddinalimuddin@fik.unp.ac.idMuhamad Sazeli Rifkisazelirifki@fik.unp.ac.idSepriadi Sepriadisepriadi@fik.unp.ac.idAnton Komainiantonkomaini@fik.unp.ac.idLiza Lizaliza@fik.unp.ac.idDonal Syafriantodonalsyafrianto@fik.unp.ac.idWahyudin Wahyudinwahyudin@unm.ac.id
Participation in sport has increasingly been associated with higher levels of happiness, subjective well-being, and the development of meaning in life. However, the philosophical dimensions of sport participation remain relatively underexplored within the field of sport science literature. This study aims to examine the relationship between sport participation, happiness, and meaning in life through a narrative literature review approach. The literature search was conducted across several international academic databases, including Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science, using keywords related to physical activity, psychological well-being, happiness, and meaning in life. Approximately 40 relevant scientific publications were analyzed thematically to identify psychological and philosophical mechanisms linking sport participation to human well-being. The findings indicate that physical activity contributes to happiness through several mechanisms, including the enhancement of subjective well-being, the strengthening of self-efficacy, emotional regulation, and the fulfillment of basic psychological needs as described in Self-Determination Theory. In addition, experiences of challenge, achievement, and social engagement in sport play a significant role in helping individuals develop a sense of meaning in life. Therefore, sport should not only be viewed as a physical activity aimed at improving bodily health but also as an important medium for fostering psychological well-being and meaningful living. These findings highlight the importance of promoting sport participation within society as part of a broader strategy to improve overall quality of life.
2026-03-30T00:00:00+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##http://sportasaintika.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/sporta/article/view/568Prevalensi serta Analisis Faktor Risiko Chronic Ankle Instability pada Mahasiswa dengan Riwayat Ankle sprain2026-03-31T06:20:00+00:00Donal Syafriantodonalsyafrian@fik.unp.ac.idUmar Umarumarkepel@fik.unp.ac.idAfriwardi Afriwardiafriwardi@med.unand.ac.id
Ankle sprain is one of the most common musculoskeletal injuries in sports and frequently progresses to Chronic Ankle Instability (CAI). This condition is characterized by recurrent episodes of ankle giving way, neuromuscular control deficits, and an increased risk of recurrent injury. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of CAI among university students with a history of ankle sprain using the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) and to analyze the association between several risk factors and the occurrence of CAI. This study employed a cross-sectional observational design. The sample consisted of 50 students with a history of ankle sprain. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire and the CAIT instrument. Descriptive statistics were used to determine CAI prevalence, and Chi-square analysis was applied to examine the association between risk factors and CAI. CAI was defined as a CAIT score ≤24. The findings showed that 72% of participants were classified as having CAI, while 28% were categorized as non-CAI. Statistical analysis revealed that recurrent ankle sprain was significantly associated with CAI (p = 0.008). In contrast, sex and athletic participation were not significantly associated with CAI (p > 0.05). The prevalence of CAI among students with a history of ankle sprain is relatively high. Recurrent ankle sprain appears to be the most significant risk factor contributing to CAI. These findings highlight the importance of sensorimotor and neuromuscular rehabilitation programs in physiotherapy practice to prevent the development of CAI.
2026-03-31T06:19:58+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##http://sportasaintika.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/sporta/article/view/555Overtraining and Non-Contact Injuries Among Adolescent Basketball Players in Indonesia2026-03-31T06:37:13+00:00Encep Farlan Sutarzafarlan@upi.eduSucipto Suciptosucipto@upi.eduMulyana Mulyanamulyana@upi.eduDede Rohmatdederohmat@upi.eduZuliza Adhafarlan@upi.eduBayu Panji Pangestufarlan@upi.edu
Overtraining and non-contact injuries represent critical issues in the development of adolescent basketball athletes and may compromise long-term performance progression. Overtraining is defined as a maladaptive condition resulting from an imbalance between training load and recovery, whereas non-contact injuries are primarily associated with impaired neuromuscular control and biomechanical risk factors in the absence of external contact. This conceptual article aims to analyze the relationship between overtraining, neuromuscular fatigue, altered movement control, and high-risk biomechanical patterns contributing to non-contact injuries, while outlining practical prevention implications relevant to the Indonesian youth sport context. A narrative review approach was conducted using scientific publications from 2015 to 2025. The findings indicate that high training volume and intensity, early sport specialization, limited program variation, and insufficient load monitoring and recovery strategies contribute substantially to injury risk. The most frequently reported injuries include ankle sprains, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, and hamstring strains. Preventive strategies include structured periodization, developmentally appropriate variation in training, load monitoring using session rating of perceived exertion (sRPE), and systematic recovery education.
2026-03-31T06:37:10+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##http://sportasaintika.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/sporta/article/view/571Analisis Kebutuhan Fisik dan Energi Atlet Pencak silat sebagai Dasar Pengembangan Model Latihan HIIT2026-03-31T13:23:29+00:00sonya nelsonnelsonsonya821@gmail.comHendri Neldihendrineldi@fik.unp.ac.idRidho Bahtraridhobahtra@fik.unp.ac.id
Pencak silat is a martial art that demands a combination of physical ability, technique, and strategy. The intermittent, high-intensity nature of the competition means that athletes' energy needs are simultaneously dominated by the anaerobic and aerobic systems. Therefore, a training model capable of accommodating these physiological demands is needed, one of which is High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). This article aims to analyze the physical and energy needs of pencak silat athletes as a basis for developing an effective HIIT training model. The method used is a literature review of various studies related to sports physiology and martial arts athlete performance. The analysis results indicate that pencak silat athletes require anaerobic endurance, muscle strength, speed, agility, and good aerobic capacity. The HIIT model is considered relevant because it can increase VO₂max capacity, lactate tolerance, and energy efficiency. Thus, developing a HIIT program based on the specific needs of pencak silat can optimally improve athlete performance.
2026-03-31T13:23:28+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##
